I’m redesigning my room?
I have a really small room (9×12). My mum is letting me paint it, and I was thinking baby blue as the main colour and white trim. Will it match? I need matching furniture…I like the IKEA brand. I need a comforter too, but I’m not sure what will and won’t match. Any ideas? Thankss(:
First, you should select your bedding. This way you will have the bedding you love and then match the paint to it. You can’t go wrong this way.
If you first paint, then you are stuck and may not be able to match the bedding to the paint if you happen to paint the wrong shade of, say, blue. Consider painting one wall white along with a fresh white coat of paint on the ceiling..
You say your room is small. Okay. If you paint with what you suggested (blue walls and white trim, you are going to create an outline of the window and doors which will break up the lines in the room, making it appear even smaller.
I would select your wall paint, whatever color that matches the bedding. Then pick a lighter shade of that wall color on the same paint color swatch for the trim. This way you are defining the woodwork but still keeping it calm and will have unbroken lines to detract the eye.
Also, to make your room seem larger, keep your floor space free, without a bunch of stuff on it. Instead of a bookshelf, hang a shelving wall unit so the floor space is not taken. Organize everything and move anything you are not regularly using out of the room to store in the attic, basement or garage. You need all that valuable space for what you really use on a day to day basis.
