Consumer's Guide to Hiring a carpet cleaner

'S GUIDE TO CONSUMER Carpet Cleaning

My name is Joel Belmont. I am grateful for the opportunity to give you information about carpet cleaning and offer help, a carpet cleaning company.

As the owner of Belmont Clean Carpet and Upholstery Care, I have spent over 10 years cleaning of fabrics in the Roaring Fork Valley. I have visited numerous schools, workshops and seminars on the date on Changes in carpets and fabrics stay. I am certified by the IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification). I spent well over a year in training with my father, Charles Belmont, founder and president of the Certified Cleaners Association. I am the only carpet cleaner with a five-star rating on www.EthicalServices.com (a nationwide watchdog featured on ABC's 20/20) in Aspen, Snowmass Village, Woody Creek, Basalt, Carbondale and Glenwood Springs, CO

During my years of cleaning, I've learned that carpet cleaning is the subject of much confusion. In fact, people have so many misconceptions about carpet cleaning, I have decided that the news consumer education offer, so if you choose a carpet cleaning company, you can make an informed, intelligent decision.

I will share with you 7 costly misconceptions about carpet cleaning. Plus, I offer 4 recommendations. And, I'll give you 8 questions you should ask a carpet cleaner, before you invite them into your home.

Error No. 1: You should wait as long as possible before cleaning your carpet.

Absolutely NOT! Dirt is an abrasive – like sandpaper. Every time you step on the carpet, you grind dirt into your carpet fibers. This cuts your carpet, just had, as It uses a knife so that it wear out faster. A dirty carpet will not last nearly as long as a clean carpet. And when vacuuming helps – by itself, It is not enough. The longer you wait for your carpet cleaned, the more damage you do to wear out your carpet and the faster.

Error 2: The only reason clean carpets to remove the soil and improve the appearance.

Not true! As you probably know, contains Outdoor pollen, fungi, bacteria, air pollution, cigarette smoke, car exhaust – and hundreds of other harmful chemicals. If you and your families to You get home, take these pollens and chemicals in your hair and skin, clothes, and shoes. Not surprisingly, all those chemicals, pollens and bacteria end to – you guessed it – in your carpet.

Carpet cleaning is not only to remove soil and improve the look of your home. It's about protecting your family and the preservation their health through the removal of contaminants and impurities can affect your quality of life. In some cases, Indoor Air Quality are 70-100 times more charged than the outside air. Since carpet is the lowest and the largest horizontal surface, it acts as a "sink" or filter, which must be emptied and cleaned regularly.

Another factor to consider is that carpet fibers are made to hide and camouflage soil and debris. So, by the Time, which you can see evidence of pollution level, your carpet is already due for a cleaning. Of course, some colors do a better job of hiding soil than others. For example, do earth tones (brown) to hide a beautiful job base, so you can not look after as a basis for deciding when it is time for your carpet clean depends.

Error No. 3: One method of carpet cleaning is as good as others!

No, in fact, several carpet cleaning Companies use very different systems, and many of them can be ground to be back soon after it is cleaned, and can permanently damage your carpet and upholstery!

Here are the most common methods:

The first uses an aqueous dry foam carpet is applied to the dry and can then easily extracted. Can you imagine applying shampoo to your hair, allowing it to dry and then remove the shampoo from your head with a vacuum cleaner? This Method can leave an enormous amount of soap residue in your carpet, and it does not provide sufficient agitation to clean and lift the carpet fibers, so it is a clean un-effective manner.

The second method uses carbonated water to try this, surface dirt on the float. Carpeting must be cleaned with an effective deep cleaning and a thorough system and effervescent bubbles just do not offer a thorough cleaning.

Thirdly, The dry-compound method spreads an absorbent mixture looks like wet sawdust all over the carpet. Then a machine brushes the mixture in the carpet to absorb the in theory causes dirt in the mix. If the mixture is dried, a vacuum cleaner sucks the material out of the carpet. In a suede or Berber carpet, it is impossible to vacuum them all out, with both the cleaning compound and land in the carpets.

The fourth method is called steam cleaning. This is a quick, one-step process, laden with boiling water, with soap, is injected into the carpet at 400 pounds per square inch pressure. This carries water over the soap Carpet, and often through the carpet and upholstery in the base. It may take days, literally soaked the carpet to dry, can cause the form to problems. Also, the extremely hot temperature of the water can soften the glue in the carpet backing, which could distort the fibers permanently, and the combination of humidity and temperature can the rug to shrink away from the walls or stretch so that waves and cause permanent damage. Pre-vacuuming usually omitted, it does not provide sufficient exercise, and the soap residue left in the fibers withdraw the spots and right lanes, where they were before! Within a few weeks, it may look like your carpet was never cleaned, and over time can ruin your carpet is.

In summary, the reason why none of these methods are effective because they lack important elements 4 a thorough cleaning: (1) allow them to gain a residue in the soil, (2) are not pre-vacuum, (3) they use too little or too much moisture, and (4) they do not agitate the carpet fibers clean enough and they again found a heap.

The last method is a five-stage low humidity Process.

First the carpet with a pre-commercial Extractor 3hp and pile lifter is extracted. Scientific studies show that 70-75% of the soil, allergens and Foreign bodies in carpeting can be removed with a professional vacuum, so this is a crucial step for a thorough cleaning.

Next, a environmentally cleaner contains no soap, bleach or lye so that no harmful residues, more land will be used gently on the carpet fibers that it does not penetrate the base of the carpet pile. The cleaner is 100% safe for you, for your carpets and the environment, and because it leaves no residue Cleaning the last 3 to 4 times as long!

Third, a rotating machine with a stick nylon brush (or a soft brush for wool and other sensitive Carpet fibers) is used to all four sides of the carpet fibers clean. This breaks up stubborn stains liquefied, all remaining soil or bacteria, and raises Knap the carpet back to its original condition.

Once the soil was liquefied, special cotton bonnets are to absorb on the floor machine and thoroughly remove the liquefied soil, so that the fiber carpets clean, healthy and beautiful.

The last step is to groom the carpet by hand with a pile lifting brush, all fibers suspended in one direction. This helps the carpet dry in just a few hours and leaves the carpet like new.

Without question, is the most effective way to clean carpeting with a five-stage, low-moisture, no residue system. It is the most effective cleaning method on the market and the only Method that thoroughly removes dirt, harmful bacteria, fungi, chemicals, pollen and other residues, while the restoration of the carpet fibers in their original state. This is the method my company uses.

Error No. 4: all methods of carpet cleaning ARE good for the environment.

Unfortunately not. There are three important factors to make the environment a system: one, the unit must be powered with clean energy, two, the cleaning solution must disposed of as non-toxic and certified to be safe for the environment, and three, a carpet cleaner needs the wastewater properly.

(1) Many carpet cleaners Operating machinery, petroleum-powered, use diesel fuel or unleaded gasoline to operate their equipment. This means that not only the neighborhood by reason of their van and equipment, which runs for the duration of the polluted exhaust cleaning, whether it is 1 hour or all day long, but this only further unnecessary greenhouse gas in the atmosphere, thereby reducing the impact of global warming.

Other carpet cleaners use equipment that is as powerful, but is of electricity, the cleaner and more efficient form of energy is supplied. To ensure that the company hire you used clean energy electricity power their equipment.

(2) Many carpet cleaning chemicals that are not biodegradable and are harmful to humans and the local watershed. a cleaning solution that is Certified Green Seal is a good standard to use when they ensure that a chemical is environmentally friendly.

(3) It is unfortunate, but some companies are not at their sewage be disposed of. I have seen several carpet cleaner, its water pump right on the road that runs locally through the storm drains and right into the river without Treatment. This can cause big problems for our local rivers, and there were many opportunities carpet cleaning companies have been sued for improper Waste disposal, which are in fish kills and damage the local environment. An ethical carpet cleaner will dispose of sewage properly.

These three factors are an important part of our current quality of life, and for future generations, and it is a high standard to which we are obliged. We are one of the only carpet cleaning company in the Roaring Fork Valley that meets all these three criteria.

Error 5: the right equipment IS ALL A company needs to clean your carpets thoroughly.

Not true. Many companies ask employees who do not know how right carpet cleaning equipment to use. This can result in an improper cleaning and even damage to your carpets and furnishings. Many carpet cleaners are sued every year because improper cleaning, which resulted in damage. This is another reason it is important that you choose your carpet cleaner very carefully.

The best carpet cleaning companies who are certified to have been by the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and RESTORATION certification, known as the IICRC. A carpet cleaning Company can not buy this certification. The carpet cleaner must the certification through study, experience, and earn the successful conclusion of the formal, written examinations. Technicians that are certified by the IICRC have, in fact, one conclusion acquired in carpet and textile cleaning and training is to remain a must-certified.

The IICRC provides written credentials attesting to the company. So before you is a reputable company you choose to ask to see written proof for The company IICRC certifications.

Error 6: THE COMPANY IS this price offers lowest THE COMPANY YOU SHOULD rent.

No, we have seen so many problems from the lowest bidding company, I suggest you have never been a company that created the best prices rent. The three most common Problems are:

are (1): The price you will not be available for the services you want performed. Before a Companies decide what you want to achieve. If you want the technician to remove only some of the dirt, you can choose from hundreds of firms, low Choose prices, poor equipment and lack of knowledge offer.

On the other hand, if you thoroughly clean your carpet – If you are the harmful To remove dirt, bacteria, pollen and chemicals – all you need for a company that a thorough 5-step system used for rent. This is the only way to ensure that your carpet remains healthy and free from dirt, disease-causing bacteria and harmful chemicals.

So, remember to see the price It offered not for the services you want performed.

(2): An inexpensive cleaning takes only a few weeks, and can be harmful Chemicals in the carpet.

Most of the cleaners in the carpet cleaning industry (especially those who do not much, it's free) with soap and detergent cleaner clean, so that a sticky residue in the carpet. The residue attracts like a magnet to the ground, and soon is looks worse than before the cleaning! It's great Business for them because you hire to clean them more often have, but that's not good for you or your carpet. It is a bad cycle, of which there are no other Way as a system that can be used to break the residue, or replace the carpet. And because carpet is the most expensive element interchangeable in your home, you can a few to save cents per square meter with a cheaper cleaning process, but it can you thousands of dollars in the long term.

(3): The price you see advertising may not pay the price to be!

Many homeowners have learned that the low price they saw advertised was not the amount they were charged.

Bait and Switch is the term used by those who use fraudulent identification to get publicity just to set foot in the door. You probably have know someone who has learned the hard way. Some carpet cleaners offered a cheap price – usually between $ 3.95 and $ 9.95 per room – and then pay them under pressure in a Lot more. This amounts to breaking the law.

As in all businesses and professions, the carpet cleaning industry has its share of bad apples. I take no pleasure in telling you this, but some are unethical and, sadly, a few are dishonest. By their misleading advertising and false promises, they cast a dark shadow our entire industry.

Then you can find more carpet cleaners, professionals like me who work hard to earn your trust and respect, and with the highest Deliver value.

As a way of improving our profession, I have dedicated my business to educating the public. The only way you can a make intelligent decision can do is have all the facts you need. That is why I wrote this message.

Error No. 7: ANY HONEST carpet cleaning COMPANY should be able to give you an exact price over the phone.

First, honest, serious, carpet cleaning companies in the Generally price carpet cleaning by the square foot. So, if you like I want to give you the exact cost of cleaning your carpet, I need the exact number of square feet, who know you want cleaned. To make an accurate measurement, I personally take accurate measurements of the carpeted area.

You will be glad to know that the carpet Place to be cleaned is not thinking nearly as big as most people. For example, if you want your whole house cleaned and your house is 2000 square meters, be the height of the cleaned carpet, perhaps only 1,200 square meters. This is because most home measurements is outside. Plus I made deducting the area of walls, Room dividers, and the like. The result is that the actual area to be cleaned is usually only about 60% of the area of the home.

So even though I can not give you an exact quote over the phone, here are things I consider when quoting a price.

First, the type of the carpet. Certain types of carpet are harder to clean than others. So, before I give you, an offer, I need to know is made on the type of fiber your carpet out, and the specific style.

Secondly, the quantity of pollution. Carpet that has not been cleaned for 10 years will take longer than carpet, within the last 6 months was purified clean. If carpet has been neglected for a long time (perhaps more than 2 years), our approach to change the order from a regular maintenance cleaning, a more aggressive cleaning RESTORATIVE.

Thirdly, the amount of furniture; which was postponed in order. If we have to transport the furniture, will it take us to clean more than an empty room.

To recap, I consider the Type of carpet, the amount of pollution, the preservation of history and the amount of furniture that must be moved. So, as you can imagine now, every quotation is different.

When you clean your carpets about HAVING, I offer these 4 RECOMMENDATIONS THINKING:

RECOMMENDATION # 1: Make a commitment to maintain itself, your carpets cleaned. The longer they remain dirty, the sooner they will wear out. Plus the longer you have all the pollen, fungi, chemicals, breathe, and dust mite droppings that reside in your carpet.

RECOMMENDATION # 2: List your objectives. Do you want just the dirt? Or do you remove the bacteria, fungus, and chemicals, which require a thorough 5-step process, as I use? Do you want an honest, reputable company – To work or are you willing to risk working with the company that offers the lowest price – knowing that your carpet and upholstery could be cleaned badly and permanently damaged?

RECOMMENDATION # 3: Ask questions. The way you learn about a company is to ask specific questions and attention , Listen to the answers. Here are the questions I suggest you ask:

1st What kind of equipment you use clean for carpet?
2nd WHAT MAKES your equipment remove from my carpet?
3rd Do you use soap or detergents and cleaners, and are your DETERGENTS Green Seal certified?
4th Is it in your power or PETROLEUM EQUIPMENT RUN, and how can you dispose of wastewater?
5th What training have you had in cleaning carpets?
6th Are you THE ETHICALSERVICES.COM a member?
7th Are you a member of any professional associations and, if so, which?
8th Are you certified by the IICRC and will show you ME YOUR certificate?
9th DO YOU fully guaranteed your work?

RECOMMENDATION # 4: When you're satisfied that you are in the work with an honest competent Professional, download them to your house and ask for a specific offer in writing. A written quotation gives you the security that you know exactly what will cost you your job. No Surprises!

Of these four, the following recommendations: You get all the information you need to make an informed, intelligent decision.

I hope you found this consumer awareness message to be helpful. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. You can also learn more about the carpet and upholstery cleaning in www.BelmontClean.com / carpet-cleaning aspen.html
